Lisa’s 5 FLIP Findings
I admit it, I’m a surfer when it comes to making an online purchase. I research like crazy, read a zillion reviews, and watch demos until I’m blue in the face and absolutely sure of what I want to buy.
So, in case you are interested in the Flip video cameras, I’ll clue you in to what I found out and why I decided to get the one I did.
1. HD vs. SD: (HD = High Definition, SD = Standard Definition)
HD is the new standard in video technology, noticeably crisper and clearer than its predecessor, Standard Definition video. The Standard Definition cameras are enticingly cheap. Why? They sport a soon-to-be-outdated technology. Thanks, but…
2. ULTRA vs. MINO:
The Mino is even smaller than the Ultra, so if you really want the tiniest of pocket toys, that could be a good fit. But the viewing screen is also a lot smaller, as is the memory capacity. I opted for something I can actually see, and something that will hold 2 hours worth of stuff. It’s plenty small for me.
3. CHARGER vs. NO CHARGER:
The Flip charges when it’s USB flipper is plugged into your computer, which has to be on. Cool, but not cool enough. I want to be able to plug it into a good old fashioned wall outlet.
4. GORILLAPOD:
This cool little guy has bendy legs, sort of like a Spaceship Gumby. You can put the camera on it, then wrap the little legs around a fence post or a tree or what have you. Great for spontaneous out-in-the-real-world stuff.
5. AMAZON vs. OTHER
Amazon is fast, reliable, and the shipping is free. You won’t find a ton of price variation out there on this camera when all is figured in, so Amazon’s deal is just about as good as it gets. Trust me, I surfed.
